Lexicon of Fat Acceptance Terms
May 25, 2008 · 13 Comments
According to an Sarcastic Antifat Acceptance Blogger
Anorexia: A very common condition that results in the deaths of MILLIONS of women each year. The primary cause is skinny models, and Hollywood waifs.
Bing Eating: A term that is used to describe a non existent condition.
Comment Section: A section of a blog where adherents post loud praise for the fat acceptance blog author’s post .
Dan Savage: The most evil man alive!
Diet: An extreme form of calorie restriction that occasionally results in temporary weight loss. This activity poses a high risk or causing anorexia.
Diet Industry: An evil Cabal of Jews, Trilaterialists, and late night infomercial advertisers who are attempting to dominate the world through manipulating health studies to encourage the sale of hoodia, and frozen meal entrees.
Douchehound: An intellectual term that Kate Harding uses to describe those who she particularly disagrees with.
Exercise: Strenuous physical activity, often engaged in by fat acceptance types, for example: playing with Cats. However, exercise has not been shown to result in weight loss. In fact many Fat Acceptance adherents exercised 2 hours a day with no results while eating nothing but lettuce, and found that no weight loss occurred.
Fashion Industry: A conspiratorial organization that is hell bent on forcing women of size to wear frumpy clothing, and to promote anorexia by utilizing uber-skinny models.
Fat and Fit: A scientific fact proven by the next to last place finishes by “fat girl on a bike” in many competitive triathlons.
Fat Hate Bingo: A method in which valid arguments are answered by shouting “Bingo” in a juvenile fashion.
Genetic Set point: If one eats intuitively (i.e. what ever the heck you want), your body will eventually reach its’ genetic weight set point. Note: sometimes a genetic set point will shift; typically upward do not be alarmed.
Intuitive Eating: Eat whatever the hell you want!
Kate Harding: A feminist prophet who offers obscenities of wisdom to those who willing to ignore science and accept her angry faith.
Lifestyle Change: See Diet. There is no known difference.
Myfatspouse.com: The most evil web site in the entire universe. It is highly inadvisable to link to www.myfatspouse.com.
Obesity Epidemic: An over exaggerated media catch phrase. Simply saying “booga, booga” makes it go away.
Real Women: Overweight women who are sexier than skinnier women. This should be an obvious fact when discussing this subject on a fat acceptance blog. Remember, that all women are real women when discussing the subject with non fat acceptance types.
Second (2nd) Law of Thermodynamics (calories out must equal calories in): Physics is sexist!
Straw Men: A valid argument against fat acceptance.
Troll: Someone who posts a comment on a fat acceptance blog who does not match the author’s ideology EXACTLY.

Two Faces of Fat Acceptance
May 19, 2008 · 8 Comments
The Fat Acceptance movement has two faces. The public face it shows to open audiences when at a TV interview or interacting with the world outside of the fat o sphere, and then there is the true face, that we only see on size acceptance blogs, especially in the comments sections. From what I can tell, this isn’t done purposely or consciously. When Fat Acceptance steps out on the public forum it sounds completely reasonable and justified. However when a Fat Blogger makes it back home to her blog, she turns into something quite different.
FA’s public message is one of “acceptance” of fat people. “Acceptance,” by FA’s definition means discouraging name calling, and stopping fatty bashing. More importantly they want to challenge prejudices against fat people, like the presumption that the obese are gluttonous and lazy. The public face of fat acceptance is hard to disagree with. The “Fat but Fit” message is stretching it, but with the majority of Americans sporting some extra lard it isn’t hard to sell.

The Fat Gene isn’t all that FAT
May 5, 2008 · 3 Comments
Everyone has heard about the obesity gene. The old hotness was the FTO gene. Now the new hotness, thanks to a collaboration between 77 institutions from the UK, USA, France, Germany, Italy, Finland and Sweden, has discovered the MC4R gene.
New DNA Variants Found That Can Help To Pile On The Pounds
According to this article,
The variants map close to a gene called MC4R: mutations in this gene are the most common genetic cause of severe familial obesity.
So, how much weight on average does this gene “pack” on you? Oh…about 3.3 pounds , but when combined with the “old” obesity gene we are talking a whopping 8.5 pounds. Oh my! I never realized that the folks in the electric carts at Wal-Mart were only 8.5 lbs overweight!

Fat Acceptance Wants Censorship
April 20, 2008 · 7 Comments
When I speak about Fat Acceptance I can not pretend that I am speaking for each and every person who takes “Health At Every Size” to heart. I am sure there are exceptions. Discussions about Fat Acceptance have to be done in general terms. My generalizations come from my years of reading fat acceptance blogs, and the experiences of others who had the misfortune of dealing with this angry internet mob. Anyone who has had an intellectual “run in” with fat bloggers will tell you that they absolutely positively can not tolerate differing opinions.
On their own turf, the FA blogs, the thought police are always on patrol, in a fashion that Stalin would be proud of. It begins with name calling and public humiliation. Kate Harding is an expert at creating new derivatives of foul words to insult those that would dare to disagree with her. Her favorites seem to be “Fucktard” and “douchehound“. Wow, how creative, I see she is putting her graduate degree to good use. After the public verbal thrashing she bans them. Fat bloggers have no use for someone that might have an independent thought once in a while. The comment sections are for loud “AMENS” only. Please look at Kate Harding’s rules for comments, this has to be the most Byzantine set of rules for blog comments EVER!

What is a Real Woman?
April 13, 2008 · 44 Comments
Since the world found out that Chloe Marshall would be a candidate in the Miss England beauty competition there has been quite a stir. For those of you who don’t know, Chloe is a 17 year old plus sized model who is 5′ 10″ and weighs a 176 lbs. None are prouder and more defensive of her success than the members of the Fat Acceptance crowd. With Miss Marshall’s pictures in the news the Fatosphere has once again begun crowing about the virtues of Real Women.
This Real Woman nomenclature begs a whole host of questions. First what exactly is a Real Woman? Does this make all other women inferior? Finally, if there are Real Women, what is a Real Man? Even though the answers can’t be found spelled out concisely in thousands and thousands of Fat Acceptance Blogs some hints can be found. Reading them, as I dreadfully have to do, some clues can be found in subtle innuendo, and others through intentional omission.

Fat Acceptance: Delusions of Persecution
April 5, 2008 · 9 Comments
Delusions of persecution - a delusion (common in paranoia) that others are out to get you and frustrate and embarrass you or inflict suffering on you; a complicated conspiracy is frequently imagined
Breaking it down further,
Delusion - an erroneous belief that is held in the face of evidence to the contrary. People are out to “inflict suffering on you”.
When Massachusetts began considering making discrimination based on body weight illegal the internet and the blog-o-sphere was inundated with articles and posts confirming just how terrible it is to be a fat person in America. To the Fat-o-sphere, being a fat person is akin to being a black person in the “Jim Crow” era south.
Fat discrimination we are told is completely out of control. Some even claim it is at an all time high in frequency. Yet, the best evidence that can be mustered are anecdotal experiences of “turned down” fat people going to job interviews, as if this qualifies as real proof of discrimination. Generally speaking a rejected applicant almost always is incorrect in figuring out why he or she didn’t get a job. Let’s get realistic here in all likelihood the person doing the interview, statistically speaking, is overweight.

Fat Acceptance Quackery
March 29, 2008 · 28 Comments
Reading a fat acceptance blog for the first time, especially an overweight female, can seem like an epiphany, “Yes, finally someone who understands!”
Quickly devouring more and more, a freshly exposed convert finds out that he or she was never meant to be at a healthy weight, and that all diets are destined to failure. Dieting and exercise are gateway drugs to the world of anorexia. Why not believe it? After all everyone on these sites was anorexic at one time, exercising 6 hours a day, and only eating lettuce for sustenance. Even with those extreme measures THEY COULDN’T LOSE THE WEIGHT!

Just a Start!
March 23, 2008 · 3 Comments
Many may already be familiar with my work at Myfatspouse.com. For two years I have continued an effort to allow husbands and wives with fat spouses to be able to communicate with each other in a environment where they will not be attacked or shamed. During that time the website has grown to be much more than what it originally was intended. It has become a community of people in different states of fatness, genders, sexual orientations, and marital status. The breadth of the subjects covered has grown as well.
Unfortunately websites live and die by search engines, and much of the discussion is lost to the world because it is located in an internet forum which is considered a lower life form by the Google gods.
This website is an outgrowth of the success of myfatspouse, but it will be written with a slightly different tact. Many of the subjects covered on the forum will be brought up will have their origins on myfatspouse, but will be elaborated on in detail. The orientation of this website will be about the politics of obesity, effects on society and relationships, and an expose on the dangers of the increasingly popular fat acceptance movement.
I hope you enjoy this new blog. If you have found us through someplace other than myfatspouse, and like what you see, the by all means join the discussion on the myfatspouse.com forum.
